I built a little daily homepage for my kid. You can make one too.
A daily page with jokes, animals, games, coloring, affirmations, weather, and a bunch more. My kid checks it every morning like it's the most important thing in the world.
It's made for the 4-to-6 crowd.
Big pictures, short words they can sound out, jokes that actually make a kindergartner laugh, games they can play, and challenges that get them moving. Every card has a read-aloud button, so even pre-readers can use it on their own -- which was the whole point.
Sign up with your email, add your kid's name, and bookmark it on their tablet. New stuff shows up every morning.
Animal of the Day
A different animal with a fun fact. This is the one my kid talks about at school.
Joke of the Day
A new joke every day. Fair warning: your kid will retell these at dinner. Badly.
Birthday Countdown
Days until birthdays of family and friends. The source of much daily excitement.
Today's Weather
Real weather for your area, described in a way a 5-year-old actually understands.
Daily Challenge
A little activity to try -- draw something, build something, go find something outside.
Word of the Day
A new word with a simple definition. Some of them actually stick.
Holiday Countdown
Days until the next holiday. You will be asked about this constantly.
Daily Affirmation
A little confidence boost to start the day. 'You are brave, you are kind' -- that kind of thing. My kid repeats them back to me now.
Moon Phase
What the moon looks like tonight. Surprisingly popular with the under-6 set.
Coloring Page
A new digital coloring page each day. Tap the colors, fill in the shapes. Mess-free art time.
Counting Game
Count the things on screen and tap the right answer. My kid yells the numbers at the iPad.
Memory Match
A card-matching game that changes daily. Six pairs, plenty of 'I found it!' moments.
Find & Tap
Find the target items hiding on screen and tap them. Like I Spy, but on a tablet.
Plus horoscopes, conversation starters, history facts, seasonal surprises, and more.
Oh, and there are no ads, no tracking, and no third-party anything on your kid's page. I built this for my own kid -- I wouldn't have cut corners on that. You can delete everything from your dashboard anytime.
